Quirinale contemporaneo 2020
Art and design from the Republican period in the House of Italians.
The 'Contemporary Quirinale' project was launched in June 2019, with the aim of inserting contemporary art and design, an extraordinary expression of Italian creative vitality during the years of the Republic, into the more traditional context of the presidential offices.
From the 2020 edition with 71 new accessions, in the 'Sala della Musica', it is possible to admire the 'Prospettica' table designed by Paolo Portoghesi in 1986 and part of the MIRABILI - Arte d'Abitare collection. This addition was made possible, thanks in part to the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella to whom it "seemed important to continue the valorisation of national talent and excellence, supporting the image of the best Italian creativity and reinforcing the awareness of the value of our history, in which past and present coexist without inflection and innervate the shared sense of our identity."
In the Nativity Chapel, the work from the MIRABILI - Arte d'Abitare 'Chocolat' collection created in 2004 by Ettore Sottsass was selected. The work was added to the Quirinale Contemporaneo project together with 32 other works from the world of art and design as a full representation of an object created by an Italian company, still in production, with the intention of presenting the leading Italian figures in the history of design, who have made Made in Italy famous throughout the world.
