Giuliano Grittini

Was born and lives in Milan where he attended the School of Graphic Design and the studios of some important artists; working and creating artistic books, exploring the art of printing. He has worked with artists such as Baj, Fiume, Sassu, Guttuso, Scanavino, Tadini, Warhol, Vasarely, Rotella, and, being passionate about photography, photographed them in various phases of their work.

His photographs and works have been published by Rizzoli, Bompiani, Frassinelli, L’Espresso, Panorama, Corriere della Sera, La Stampa, and l’Unità. Besides being a printer and photographer, he expresses his creativity by making his own particular artistic journey. He has held numerous solo and group exhibitions and has participated in national and international events.

In 1977, he took part in the Festival of the Word Venezia Poesia in Venice, photographing Alda Merini and Umberto Eco. He also participated in the Venice Biennale, contributing to the poetic Bunker. Over the years, he has exhibited in Innsbruck, Siena, Foggia, Accadia (FG), Brescia, and in 2006 in Legnano.

In 2010, he participated in several group and solo projects, including “MARILYN la storia del mito” curated by Bruno Baglivo at the Gallery of the Palazzo Coveri in Florence; “MARILYN arte della bellezza”, curated by Carlo Occhipinti at Villa Ponti in Arona; “Ultimo atto d’Amore” featuring Alda Merini, Marilyn Monroe, Mimmo Rotella, and Giuliano Grittini at the MDM Museum in Porto Cervo; “ALDA MERINI - L’anima della luce - Testimonianze” at Spazio Oberdan for the Province of Milan. In December of the same year, at Palazzo Reale in Milan, he presented a series of images dedicated to Alda Merini directed by Pierpaolo Venier in the exhibition titled “Ultimo atto d’Amore”, alongside works by Mimmo Rotella and a series dedicated to Marilyn Monroe.

He is the author, together with director Cosimo Damiano Damato, of the film “Una donna sul Palcoscenico” about Alda Merini, featuring poems performed by Mariangela Melato, which was presented at the Venice Film Festival. His books include “È già difficile vivere una volta, figuriamoci molte volte” with a preface by Carlo Franza (with Alda Merini, CLON - ART, 1997) and “Ringrazio sempre chi mi dà ragione” (with Alda Merini, Alternative Press, 1997).

In 2011, he held a solo exhibition in Ravenna at the Church of San Domenico. In 2011/2012, he presented “Marilyn life” at Castello Pozzi in Milan. In 2013, he exhibited “Aston Martin Story, miti e ...” at Il Sole 24 Ore in Milan, “Atto d’Amore in London”, his first solo exhibition in the city, and “Cara Alda, un ricordo di Alda Merini tra immagini e carta stampata” at Spazio Oberdan in Milan.

In 2014, he participated in “Omaggio a Basquiat e Haring” at the MDM Museum in Porto Cervo, the collective “Sorella Marilyn” in Città di Castello, and “Alda Merini Diva” in Sesto Fiorentino. He was also present in the “Amstel Art collective” in Hong Kong. From 2014 to 2015, he held a personal exhibition at Palazzo Ducale in Genoa in preparation for the grand show “Genio e Poesia” for Expo 2015.

In 2015, he took part in the “Tex Willer” collective in Città di Castello, presented by Vincenzo Mollica. In 2016, after several experiments, he developed CRACKER ART, a new experimental technique, and INGIURIES, in collaboration with Giuliano and Linda Grittini.

In October 2016, he presented “Warhol, digital and artistic experiments” in Brescia at the Museum of Industry and Labor. In the same year, at MI-ART in Milan, he installed “NEW GAME”, a light sculpture at Castello Pozzi by Rinaldo Denti. Also in 2016, in Novara, he exhibited at LEGART Art Gallery, Palazzo Gualtieri, with his personal exhibition titled “Even today will be inside history”.

In 2017, he participated in “Art Routes” at Villa Principe Leopoldo in Lugano with the Mazzoleni Foundation and in a collective in Miami presented by Corrado Rizza. That year, he also exhibited at Contact Gallery in Rome and at the House of Arts in Milan with his personal exhibition “Atto d’Amore” at the Merini Home Foundation.

In July 2020, he participated in the collective Roma Domus and, in the same month, in Positano with “L’arte è una bellissima donna”. His scheduled personal exhibition was held at Galleria Atena in Como.
