Marco Lodola, ArtInsolite – Teatro del Silenzio 2016, Lajatico
Teatro del Silenzio, the exclusive event created by Andrea Bocelli in the hills of Lajatico, is back for its 11th year. For the 2016 edition, the tenor will perform a lyrical repertoire composed of some of the most famous opera arias, in a richly colored and scenic setting for one of the oldest and most fascinating shows ever: the circus.
"Maestro Bocelli," the organizers explained, "personally chose the theme of the Circus because just as Opera is a complete staging that contemplates singing, music, dance and performance, so here is born at this year's Teatro del Silenzio a comparison between these two worlds. Defining even more the common thread of this edition will be the work of art that, as every year, will be the backdrop to the stage setting: a luminous elephant entitled Circo Lodola created for the occasion by Marco Lodola and made available by Mirabili Arte d'Abitare gallery and FORMITALIA Luxury Group spa, a company owned by brothers David and Gianni Overi. Marco Lodola's light sculpture will color the theater and serve as a backdrop for the magical event in Lajatico.
He was born in Florence in 1946. After the Art Institute and the Academy of Fine Arts he traveled in Europe and the Orient. In 1970 he was in Rome, where his first solo exhibition was held in 1971; from this moment he began one of the most brilliant careers in Italian contemporary art with exhibitions, retrospectives and permanent works in museums and galleries around the world. He is considered one of the most important exponents of the Italian Transavanguardia with his unmistakable figures, massive and compact, characters almost suspended between heaven and earth but alive in their richness of color.
