Christmas is coming to Mercato Centrale Florence

On December 2, the Central Market Florence will officially kick off the holiday season with a day full of guests and events. The events will begin at 11 and continue throughout the day , reaching its peak at 18.30 with the traditional lighting of the Christmas lights.
EVENTS DURING THE DAY
One Sunday for young and old, to live fully immersed in the atmosphere of Christmas. From 11 to 12 and from 15 to 16 the cultural association animators theater-there held a workshop for children dedicated to Christmas decorations. From 14 to 15 children can attend the entertaining puppet show that will star Santa Claus, he will be grappling with an unexpected which will jeopardize the expected delivery of gifts.
The events will continue from 16 to 18 with " Christmas AlberiAmo together ", a creative workshop of Christmas decorations by associations Angeli del Bello and Together for San Lorenzo . All day in the Market Square there will be a tent that will welcome guests with hot chocolate and mulled wine in homage .
It will be impossible, moreover, not to notice the presence of the circus tent of Septimius Benedusi . The student Oliviero Toscani will bring his photographic studio in the square of Florence Central Market, ready to capture the guests with its artistic shots. It will be a special occasion to appreciate the photograph back in print and have his picture taken by a famous photographer.
THE WORKS OF MARCO LODOLA
The Mercato Centrale Florence since its inception is the organizer and cultural center, with a careful eye to the art. At Christmas there will be the installation of the exhibition Winter Garden visual artist Marco Lodola . Dancers, mythological heroes and fantasy characters come to life in the First Floor through 16 bright statues by the artist, that will transform the market into a magical place.
The great statues, made from plexiglass, metal and colored LEDs will be accompanied by smaller installations made Perspex, which will adorn the shops on the first floor. The title of the exhibition refers to spaces that, in large villas, were used as greenhouses to keep the plants during the winter period, also known as orangeries or lemon. The Garden of Marco Lodola Winter welcomes a series of sculptures typical of his art, which has made it an internationally renowned artist. The exhibition is organized in collaboration with Admirable Gallery - Art by Abitare Florence.
The LUMINARIE OF POWER WITH THE MAYOR
That of Sunday, December 2 will be a festival dedicated to the district and the city of Florence , which will culminate with the lighting of the lights, both inside and outside of the structure.
At 18:30 there will be the institutional speech with thanks to the neighborhood to the presence of Umberto Montano , president of the Florence Central Market, and the mayor Dario Nardella . The speech will be followed by the performance of the gospel choir Revolution Gospel Project . After switching on the external lights, the party will move into the market. The lighting is part of the F-Light Festival , in its fourth edition, which this year celebrates the genius of Leonardo Da Vinci. The festival, sponsored by the city and organized by MUS.E, illuminate the most beautiful spaces in the city for a month giving them, literally, new light.
